Durham's city council took up two federal airport grants at its September 3 meeting, both through the FAA's Airport Improvement Program: $1,016,279 and $35,478,766. The larger grant is the biggest dollar figure on the agenda, bigger than the Microsoft software contract ($2.9 million with contingency) and the utility easement maintenance contract ($3.86 million with contingency) combined.

Three annexation public hearings close out the agenda. Two pull subdivisions called Woodlands Preserve, on Torredge Road and on Koback Drive, into the city with utility extension agreements tied to Marlowe Development Partners. A third annexes a tract called Leigh Valley with Greenhawk Corporation.
