What's on this agenda

The council holds public hearings on two annexations, each paired with a rezoning. Developer Hopper Communities, Inc. is bringing in Mockingbird Lane and Sherron Road under Planned Development Residential zoning. Tri Pointe Homes Holdings, Inc. is bringing in Crescent Townes under Residential Compact zoning. Both would take effect December 31 if the council approves. The council also holds hearings on permanently closing Fontanelle Street and a 361-foot stretch of Gilbert Street.

The agenda carries four large road contracts. Carolina Sunrock, LLC would get $5.67 million for street repairs and repaving and $1.66 million for unpaved road improvements. Slurry Pavers, Inc. would get $3.28 million for pavement preservation. FSC II, LLC, doing business as Fred Smith Company, would get $1.48 million for bridge repairs. The council would also authorize a $1.52 million design contract for the Durham Station Transit Center Improvements project. It would appoint Melissa Southern to the Open Space and Trails Commission, and receive third-quarter crime and fire department audit reports.
