Morrisville's town council is set for a final vote on a rezoning that has taken four hearings to reach this point: Duke Energy Progress wants to rezone about 14 acres at 940 Morrisville Carpenter Road from Low Density Residential to Conditional-Low Density Residential to operate a substation compound there. The Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval 4-1 in December, and the council opened its hearing January 10 before granting three continuances, closing it February 28.

The council will also vote on an ordinance rewriting 17 chapters of the town code, the first full review since 2017, which adds a new chapter adopting Wake County's non-discrimination ordinance and cuts the fee for a group demonstration or picket-line permit from $25 to zero. A consent agenda covers a shared stormwater agreement on Harris Mill Road, an ADA transition plan for 110 miles of sidewalk, and street acceptances in two subdivisions.
