Chatham County's Planning Board heard one case on 1 April 2025: a special use permit for a new EMS station at 9251 US 15-501 N in Baldwin Township, on about three acres the county already owns. There is no station in that part of the county and the crews there work out of the ambulance itself.

The board also worked on text amendments to the ordinance that establishes it, and welcomed new members.

The permit was recommended 10-0 on ten conditions, covering signage, the landscape plan as reviewed by the Appearance Commission, a three-year limit on the building permit, and watershed review before any land disturbance.

Members asked what the space beside the building is for, which nobody could answer on the night, and why the bidding had slipped: a bidder's request for extra documentation turned a simple project into a complicated one. Emergency vehicles will turn right out of the site and make a U-turn to head north. One member noted that the original planting plan had only six natives out of thirteen, and thanked the Appearance Commission for getting more of them in.
