What's on this agenda

Chatham County's Planning Board elected its officers on 4 February 2025 and spent the rest of the meeting on the three documents that govern it: its rules of procedure, its code of ethics, and the county ordinance that establishes it.

It also received an introduction to the plans and rules along the US 15-501 corridor, which came back as a full presentation in March.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

Mary Roodkowsky was elected chair 7-0 and Clyde Frazier vice chair 7-0. The February minutes and agenda passed 7-0.

The chair set out the division that shaped the next four months of the board's work: it can edit its own rules of procedure and code of ethics, but the ordinance establishing it belongs to the commissioners, so the board can only recommend. The questions open were the timing of officer elections, the timing of terms, which the ordinance controls, and the annual report to the commissioners. The rules were adopted on 4 March and the ordinance amendments recommended on 6 May.

How the votes went

The chair and vice chair were each elected 7-0. The agenda and the January minutes passed 7-0.

From the published minutes.
