The meeting opened with five recognitions: the public works department for the town's 2025 North Carolina Main Street Champions designation, marketing and special events coordinator Trey Baggett as the Woman's Club employee of the year, Officer Bryan Williscroft for a state Dogwood Award tied to scam prevention, the inaugural criminal justice club at Fuquay-Varina Middle School, and the parks department's teen council for a best non-print media award.

One resident spoke, asking the board to send notices of violation to a neighbor over a fence he said encroaches on his property and over a private drainage easement. The mayor said the town would stay neutral because the dispute is pending in Superior Court.

The consent agenda passed intact, setting both the Wade Nash Road and Hilltop Road annexation petitions on the path to hearings. The board then approved three budget amendments: donations from the United Arts Council and the museum friends group, a $7,500 AKC Reunite grant for the police department, and the computer hardware purchase, which the IT director said would arrive within one to two months.
