What's on this agenda

Fuquay-Varina's commissioners hold a public hearing Monday on rezoning 4.77 acres at 6126 Dwight Rowland Road for WakeMed's planned freestanding emergency department, which the state approved in July 2025. A second hearing would rezone 48.81 acres at 7151 Sunset Lake Road for Envision Homes as a planned unit development of up to 105 small-lot homes and townhouses. The town also annexes its own 1.5-acre water tank site on Wilbon Road. A fourth hearing, on Gemstone Homes' rezoning at 602 and 606 South Main Street, is to be tabled.

Two rezonings tabled from earlier return. M/I Homes asks to rezone 27.63 acres on Sunset Lake Road, inside the Jones-Johnson-Ballentine Historic District, for up to 48 detached homes; the site's pond is a high-hazard dam under a state violation notice and is to be drained. A three-lot row house plan at 417 and 419 Raleigh Street is the other. The Planning Board recommended all four rezonings unanimously. On consent, the board closes 22 finished capital projects and moves about $3.5 million in general funds to the Sunset Lake, Purfoy and Main Street intersection and two new parks.
