What's on this agenda

Pittsboro's downtown advisory board took up its own membership on May 5, working from a roster, an applicant spreadsheet and two sets of applications, one for the Main Street district and one for at-large stakeholders. It also reviewed the draft downtown work plan for FY 2026-27.

Those two items were the only action on the agenda.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The board filled its own seats and sent the year's downtown work plan forward. Three appointment motions carried: one recommending an at-large member and a Main Street representative, one recommending a high school student and a Chatham Chamber of Commerce member to the two ex-officio seats, both 9-0. Two sitting members recused themselves and left the room while the board recommended their own re-appointment, which passed 7-0. The 2026-27 downtown work plan was recommended for approval 9-0.

Committee reports named CLEAN as the downtown marketing firm and noted the design committee's two building rehabilitation grant recommendations. The economic vitality committee agreed its teams would meet more than once a month. Staff reported that the MONDAY.COM software has been bought with training to follow, and that a requested position for the downtown division is still outstanding. The deputy town clerk said the advisory body policy was going to the commissioners on 11 May, and flagged board orientations and an annual board survey. In the comment period the board discussed tourism and whether to work with the Pittsboro-Siler City Convention and Visitors Bureau. Nine members made quorum; three left before the end, and the adjournment motion carried 6-0.

How the votes went

Six recorded votes. The agenda, the April minutes, two appointment motions and the 2026-27 downtown work plan each passed 9-0. The re-appointment of two sitting members passed 7-0, with both recusing themselves and leaving the room. Adjournment carried 6-0 after three members had left.
