The board recommended the 2026-27 budget 9-0 with two changes: the Small Business Saturday line raised to $2,000, and the 250th anniversary and vintage events dropped. It recommended the SummerFest sponsorship 9-0 and the Memorial Day sponsorship 8-0, one member recusing himself over a potential conflict of interest.

More than sixty people had applied for seats on the board. Members discussed what to do with applicants they do not select, including keeping a pool of volunteers for specific events, and set the vote on appointments for 5 May. Staff reported that the town was accredited again under the Main Street program and that NC Main Street would make its annual site visit on 9 April. The town manager said contractor interviews for the new town hall were the following day, that there would be a ribbon cutting at the Chatham Park Grant Drive site, and that the Community House landscaping would use only native plants.
