What's on this agenda

The commission introduces a new applicant but takes no membership vote this month, discusses its Earth Day event and the first of a new award, and works through the final drafts of the State of the Environment report. Each subcommittee needs to supply one person to help with final edits.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

The Earth Day discussion has a pointed second half: how to make sure event announcements actually reach the whole county public. That question runs through the commission's year - two trails workshops drew about 70 people and left large parts of the county unrepresented on the map, and the parks council spent its September meeting on the same problem.

The first Ripple Awards were presented at the event, which is the commission's own recognition scheme - the idea it floated in May 2025, worked up over the summer, and settled in June 2025 as recognition rather than money for individuals, businesses and community groups.

On the report, the commission is at edits and formatting rather than drafting, with an update on a tree canopy study - one of the recommendations its land subcommittee identified in 2025 as something the county should commission.
