What's on this agenda

Forty minutes of new business: an attendance policy, chair and vice-chair, an update on fare-free service, and the transit scheduling software. Then a staff report covering the annual work plan, conflict of interest statements, the county's bike and pedestrian plan, and the three transport planning bodies the county has to work with.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting.

The fare-free update is the item riders would notice. The regional operator seriously considered staying fare-free after the pandemic and concluded its financial model could not carry it, which is why a fare assistance programme exists instead. Where the county's own service stands on fares is a separate question, and it comes to this board.

An attendance policy and chair elections in the same block of business usually means a board that has had trouble making quorum. Conflict of interest statements appear in the staff report, which is the annual compliance every appointed member signs.

The scheduling and dispatch software matters more than it sounds for a demand-response operation: it is what decides whether a rider who books a trip actually gets one.
