What's on this agenda

Three regular items: the regional planning organisation's master transportation plan and air quality report, the draft 2027 transit work programme, and the county's priorities for the next round of state project scoring. Anyone may comment by email and the comments are read aloud during the meeting.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting.

The state project scoring item is where a county competes for road money. North Carolina ranks projects by formula and the local share of that score is what a county board actually controls, so agreeing priorities before submission is the whole exercise.

The draft work programme before this board was the one released for a shortened 21-day public comment period rather than the usual 30, because the adoption schedule had slipped by a year. Comment closed on 21 April and the staff working group adopted it the next day.

The board takes public comment entirely by email, read into the meeting - unusual, and worth knowing for anyone who cannot attend in Hillsborough on a weekday evening. The agenda carries the county transport department's full non-discrimination notice under the federal civil rights statute.
