What's on this agenda

The one public hearing is the consequential item. A county-initiated text amendment would take by-right subdivisions of fewer than 21 lots out of Planning Board and commissioner review entirely and hand them to staff, on the reasoning that state law requires the county to approve plats meeting its own criteria anyway. It also drops the separate concept plan application, widens the expedited track to parcels between two and five acres, and deletes three subdivision categories that have never been used. The Planning Board recommended approval unanimously with one change: doubling the mailing notice before a neighborhood meeting from 14 days to 30.

The board also fills the Register of Deeds vacancy left by a resignation in mid-August, and honors Commissioner Jamezetta Bedford, who died in June, by naming the crisis diversion facility now under construction after her. Consent carries $350,000 in tourism marketing contracts, a $37,783 opioid settlement award, and ratification of a $123,500 inspections contract the county manager had already signed to keep construction moving.
