Work session Budget and appropriationsComprehensive planRoads and transportationTransit

What's on this agenda

This is a work session, so the board is reviewing and discussing rather than voting. The biggest item is a Via presentation on how fares have affected the Go Wake Forest microtransit system since fares started in February 2026 -- covering demand, revenue, and service quality -- plus options for expanding service now that fare revenue has lowered the town's required match for Wake Transit funding. The board will also hear proposed 2026 amendments to the Comprehensive Transportation Plan, which the Planning Board recommended approving 5-0 after a public comment session in August; and staff recommendations to trim the town's 2027 events calendar, including cutting Friday Night on White from six dates to three, moving the July 3 fireworks gate time to 7 p.m., and merging the Holiday Kickoff and the Lighting of Wake Forest into one event run by Wake Forest Downtown, Inc.

Rounding out the agenda: a review of July's monthly financial summaries, and a look at the draft agenda for the September 15 regular meeting. Nothing on this agenda is scheduled for a formal vote at this meeting.
