Read from the agenda's recorded outcomes. Where the board published minutes, those are the record — this is a pointer to them.

What's on this agenda

Chatham County's commissioners adopted the 2024 farmland protection plan on 21 October 2024, the first update since 2009, along with a protection blueprint running to 2028 and the year's farmland preservation trust fund budget.

They held the hearing on the draft schedule of values for the 2025 revaluation and a hearing on the subdivision text amendment on concept plans, and held back the Sanford water merger vote until the full board was present.

Summarized from the published agenda. Read the agenda itself before acting on it.

Meeting recap

What happened, drawn from the records published after the meeting. Minutes

Four commissioners attended, Vice Chair Howard absent, and the votes carried 4-0.

The subdivision text amendment is worth understanding. Under the permit choice statute, an applicant whose permit is pending when a rule changes may choose which version applies. Staff found that a concept plan submittal, the first and roughest step in a major subdivision, was being used to lock in the old rules indefinitely, and asked for language to close that.

Nineteen people commented across the sessions, on the Summit Church rezoning, the development ordinance, and the water merger.

The board also took the first quarter budget update, the American Rescue Plan quarterly update, and a resolution honoring Carolina Tiger Rescue's fiftieth anniversary. The non-profit funding discussion moved to 4 November.

How the votes went

The votes carried 4-0 with Vice Chair Howard absent, including the farmland protection plan and blueprint, the consent agenda, and the Carolina Tiger Rescue resolution. The water merger vote was held until the full board was present.

From the published minutes.
